Introduction to Luoyang Philharmonic Orchestra
Founded in 2019, the Luoyang Philharmonic Orchestra follows the motto of “In the Name of Music, Illustrating the Beauty of Luoyang.” As the cultural and artistic scene rises and flourishes in Luoyang’s recent years, the orchestra has gained immense popularity among the young audiences.
In recent years, the orchestra has performed at numerous domestic and international events, including the Peony Culture Festival, Heluo Culture Festival, International Ancient Capitals Forum, the opening ceremony of the Central and Eastern European Countries Cultural Heritage Forum, the Hennessy X.O Global Launch Ceremony, the closing ceremony of the 14th Henan Provincial Games, and the live broadcast of “Walking with Hui” in Luoyang. These performances have actively contributed to promoting Luoyang’s urban culture and advancing the popularization of high art.
In 2020, their flash mob social media performance of violin pieces such as “Luoyang Subway is Open” and “Song of the Peony” garnered over 10,000 shares and 500,000 views. In 2022, the orchestra organized the Luoyang Radio and Television’s “Youth Love for Music, Strings Dancing with Heluo Passion” symphony concert to celebrate the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. It has also hosted the annual Qixi (Chinese Valentine’s Day) Symphony Concert, the “Voice of the Yellow River” charity symphony concert, and New Year’s Eve symphony concerts for two consecutive years. The orchestra’s original orchestral piece “Symphonic Luoyang”, released during the 40th China Luoyang Peony Culture Festival, achieved over 1.21 million views online.
The orchestra has performed at Luoyang’s New Year’s Concerts for four consecutive years. In the 2024 Luoyang New Year’s Concert, its original orchestral piece “Allegro Polka” innovatively incorporated the traditional Chinese Castanets (kuaiban) as a percussion instrument into the orchestra, promoting cultural exchange and integration.
